Foodies on Tour: Dinner at Eastern Seaboard, 13 August
July 25, 2011 in IFBA Events
We’re happy to announce a special IFBA outing in Drogheda, Co. Louth on Saturday, 13 August. We’ll be meeting at the brand-new Brown Hound Bakery, which was just opened by Jeni and Reuven, owners of the famed Eastern Seaboard Restaurant in Drogheda. The bakery features amazing coffee and an array of fresh-baked treats, including real American-style doughnuts!
We’ll meet at the bakery at 5 p.m. for a personal tour, then we’ll stroll next door to the Eastern Seaboard Restaurant for a 6 p.m. dinner and chat with Chef Reuven (voted best chef in Leinster in the 2011 RAI awards) about his culinary creations, many of which feature locally sourced ingredients.
There is no special IFBA menu, which means you’ll have access to everything on the regular Eastern Seaboard menu. We can accommodate 18 people max and will need RSVP confirmations by Monday, 1 August (Eastern Seaboard is a very busy restaurant, so it’s important for us to confirm the final number by then; they book out every Saturday evening). Email your RSVP to Clare (An American in Ireland) at .
The Drogheda Irish Rail station is within walking distance to the bakery and restaurant (they are next door to each other). The last train from Drogheda to Dublin is at 10:05 p.m., so you’ll have plenty of time if you decide to do the train route. There is a large parking lot at the restaurant for those who choose to drive themselves.
For the menu, address and general info check out the Eastern Seaboard website: http://www.easternseaboard.ie/. We hope to see you there!
Processing your request, Please wait....

Hurrah! I’ve been wanting to go to Eastern Seaboard for ages, this is definitely one not to miss

Really wish I could make it but unfortunately that weekend is earmarked as a moving-back-into-the-cottage/cleaning-out-rented-house one.
Love the sound of the bakery: Ireland badly needs more good bread – and American doughnuts, of course! Hope you all have a fab time and will be looking forward to the blog posts about it.

What a pity! I have other plans for the day (that I’ve been looking forward to for ages). Have a good time!

Awe, sounds like another great Irish Foodies event – I’ll be in West Cork so will miss this one unfortunately. Enjoy.

I’d love to go. It’s in my ‘neighbourhood’ and we love eating there. Is the trip limited to IFBA members only?

We may also do a quick jaunt up to the Carlingford Oyster Festival in the mid-day before going to the bakery – once I get the final RSVPs I will send out an email with details. If you just want to do the bakery/ES dinner that’s fine too!
Looking forward to this – ES is one of Kristin and my favorite restaurants!!

Should’ve mentioned this in the original invite – my apologies! For those asking about bringing children, the bakery tour is open to kids but the dinner is really an adults-only affair. It’s a time for food bloggers to catch over drinks and adult-convo so I hope you all understand. In the future we’ll specify when children are invited and when they’re not. I’ve learned something about planning an event with this one – will defo apply it next time. Cheers!
