Competition: Irish Craft Beer Festival, 23 to 25 September
September 21, 2011 in Competitions
The first Irish Craft Beer Festival will take place from 23rd – 25th September in the RDS, Dublin. According to the organisers, the event will be a three-day celebration of Irish craft brews featuring in excess of 50 artisan beers from Ireland’s finest craft breweries along with select whiskey and cider makers. Some of the breweries participating in the event include Trouble Brewing from Kildare, Brew Eyed from Offaly, Carlow Brewing Company, 8 Degrees from Mitchelstown and the Franciscan Well from Cork.
“Our goal is to create a world-class gathering of breweries, where consumers may sample, experience, learn and be entertained,” says Seamus O’Hara of Carlow Brewing Co. and one of the festival organisers. “We’ve organised a great line-up of music and entertainment including Oona and the Pavement Kings, The Barley Mob, Seven Days, Joe Rooney and Jerry Fish & the Mudbug Club.”
The festival opening hours will be as follows:
- Friday, September 23rd – 4 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.
- Saturday, September 24th – noon to 12:30 a.m.
- Sunday, September 25th – noon to 10:00 p.m.
There will be live music each evening and family entertainment during the day. A number of artisan food suppliers will also be on hand to provide their recommended food parings for the various beer styles available at the festival.
Tickets are available online now from www.ticketmaster.ie or through a variety of pubs, including The Bull and Castle, Lord Edward Street; L. Mulligans, Stoneybatter; Against the Grain, Wexford Street; Franciscan Well, North Mall, Cork; and from the Dublin Tourist Office, Suffolk Street, Dublin 2.

Even tghuoh I’ve heard so much about it from the Eight Degrees boys (over dinner, over breakfast, on car journeys, while brushing my teeth…), it’s great to read about the branding from Erik’s perspective. Imaginative branding and great beer – what’s not to like?!
