Street Feast, 17 June 2012: Be Part of a National Party!

May 30, 2012 in Events

It’s coming up to Street Feast time again, and they are looking for food bloggers to host a Street Party to share food with neighbours and celebrate community on their own street. We think it’s a great idea to share this event with the food blogging community – who better than food bloggers to share their love of food with their own neighbours?

Street Feast, now in its third year, aims to celebrate with the biggest number of street parties across Ireland and they are on a nationwide search for hosts. This is a fantastic opportunity to get to know the people you share your neighbourhood with. Whether it’s a front garden family gathering or a whole street extravaganza, register on www.streetfeast.ie to download the DIY pack for invites, posters and party idea suggestions. Have a look at this year’s launch video, and for those heading to Bloom this weekend, Street Feast will have a stand in the GIY Ireland (Grow it Yourself) area, so come over to say hello!

“Last year’s Street Feasts encouraged thousands of people out onto their streets to break bread and share lunch with their neighbours. Street Feast is a breath of life into the streets of Ireland. It is a 100% Irish, fun, not-for-profit, do-it-yourself celebration,” says Samuel Bishop, co-founder of Street Feast. “Street Feast puts the spirit back into communities! Each feast is as unique as the individuals involved, with the simple aim to have fun and create a great day.”

Getting involves take five simple steps:

  • Connect with your neighbours
  • Register your feast on www.streetfeast.ie
  • Share with friends and family – let’s have an all-Ireland party!
  • Celebrate with your community on June 17th
  • Post your recipes and photos of your Street Feast, share your stories and experiences afterwards

If any food bloggers would like to post some recipe suggestions for Street Feast ideas, they would be delighted to share them with all their followers on their own blog at http://streetfeast.tumblr.com/. If you would like to share some of your Street Party recipe ideas, email with your details, or follow them on Twitter @streetfeast to ask any questions and get support in hosting your own Street Feast!
