Food events: Westport Food Festival video, foraging at Powerscourt, A Taste of Donegal
August 14, 2012 in Irish Food Festivals
An eclectic bunch of Mayo food producers, chefs, hotel and restaurant staff have created the first ever music video to promote the Westport Food Festival, which will take place from 21 to 23 September.
An adaptation of Food, Glorious Food! from the musical Oliver!, the song is sung and performed by the ‘stars’ of the festival in a variety of famous Westport locations.
The cast includes: beekeepers; chefs; a cheese maker; fish monger; baker; hummus and tapenade maker; barman; restaurant owner, hotel and marketing managers and waiting staff. Forming a thread throughout the performance are members of Westport’s historic town band including jazz musician and Westport legend Larry Hingerton (82) and six Westport children making their screen debut.
It was launched on Sunday along with the programme for the second Westport Food Festival and more information is available at www.westportfoodfestival.ie.
